Penmenner House Art Retreat FAQs
In order for us to run the Art Retreat to the best of our ability and provide a professional service we have written the following to help guide you in deciding whether to book an art retreat with us. Please make sure to read and review the terms before booking.
How does booking an Art Retreat work?
To reserve your spot in the first instance you will need to pay the £200 deposit. This is priced per person. If there are two from the same party wanting to participate then you will need to book 2 spots.
If there are two from the same party but only one of you will be participating then only one spot needs to be booked.
Once this initial booking payment has been received your contact details will be passed on to Penmenner House who will get in touch with you directly to arrange your accomodation.
Full Payment will be expected to be paid within 48 hours of Penmenner House sending you the payment link. Penmenner House uses the Stripe system to collect payment securely. (Please advise if you know your payment will be late or if you would prefer to pay via BACS).
If after this time you have not paid in full your place will be forfeited and you will receive your deposit back minus £100 admin fee.
Once payment has been received in full your place is guaranteed.
I would like to pay using BACS rather than pay through the site, is that possible?
Yes of course. In the first instance get in touch via email melanie.chadwick@gmail.com to check spaces available. If there are spaces I will send my BACS details for the £200 deposit and hold your place for 24 hours. If after that time no payment has been made I will release your spot.
If payment has been made your details will then be passed over to Penmenner House who will deal directly with you regarding accomodation and the remaining payment balance. If you'd like to pay via BACS again rather than Stripe please let Penmenner House know on contact.
What if I need to cancel the retreat?
Unfortunately we will not be able to refund any fee once paid in full. We recommend you take out travel insurance to cover for this type of protection against any circumstances that might require cancellation or change of travel arrangements.
Can I send someone else to take my place?
You can send someone else to take your place should you not be able to attend but please make sure that person knows what to expect and has some interest in the experience we will be providing and a reasonable level of fitness. Let us know prior to the retreat in writing who will be taking your place so that we know who is coming.
What if I get ill or injured on the trip and cannot continue?
In the unfortunate event that you get ill or injured, we will help you as quickly as possible and make sure you have all the care you need. We advise you to take out travel insurance which should cover any costs incurred by illness and injury interruptions. Penmenner House and Melanie Chadwick are both covered by Public Liability Insurance.
Is this retreat suitable for those with limited mobility?
Unfortunately due to the nature of the landscape and set up of the house this retreat will not be suitable for those with limited mobility. There will be a certain amount of walking on uneven terrain and unlevel ground.
How fit do I need to be?
This retreat will be focused around walking and sketching around the Lizard landscape so a certain level of fitness will expected. Please take into consideration that each day we may be walking between 1-4 miles.

Art Retreat Terms and Conditions
CONTRACT
1.1 The terms of the Melanie Chadwick/Penmenner House price list and these terms and conditions constitute the terms of the legally binding contract (“the Contract”) between you, the participant and Melanie Chadwick/Penmenner House.
1.2 All art retreat purchases are excluded from 14 day right to cancel. Leisure activities that are due to take place on a specified date are excluded from your cancellation rights.
FEES
2.1 All fees must be paid within 48hr of being sent the final payment link by Penmenner House and before the start of the retreat.
2.2 If fees are not paid within 48 hrs, Melanie Chadwick/Penmenner will be entitled to reallocate your place, your deposit will be refunded minus a £100 adminstration fee.
2.3 Your place is not confirmed until full payment is received.
CANCELLATION
3.1 Payments made in full are non-refundable. If in the circumstance you need to cancel please notify Melanie Chadwick/Penmenner immediately. A friend or family member may attend in your place should you not be able to make it- their details need to be provided 24 hrs before the retreat begins.
3.2 If the retreat is cancelled by us due to force majeure events or circumstances out of our control, we will let you know as soon as possible and refund the total cost of the retreat.
LIABILITY
4.1 Penmenner House/Melanie Chadwick will not accept responsibility for the loss of any personal possessions.
4.2 Penmenner House/Melanie Chadwick will not be liable for any loss suffered by you which is indirect, special or consequential.
4.3 Penmenner House/Melanie Chadwick will not be liable for any loss suffered by you resulting from any event which is beyond the reasonable control of Penmenner House.
YOUR DATA
5.1 On consent your email may be added to Melanie Chadwick/Penmenner House newsletter list.
5.2 No credit or debit card information will be held by Melanie Chadwick/Penmenner House.
5.3 We will not sell your data to any third parties.
COPYRIGHT
6.1 Copyright of all art retreat content, is retained by Melanie Chadwick and you must not share access to this content with anyone.
6.2 All information, including but not limited to, lesson plans, course structures and handouts are for your sole use and are not to be shared or used in any form without the written agreement from Melanie Chadwick.
6.3 You must not share any image, phrase, lesson or title to promote yourself.
7.1 The Contract shall be governed by English law
NOTE
If possible you are advised to take out insurance against loss of fees through illness or personal accident.
